Sort of a fitting day to leave the earth; Herr Fest is most famous for his biography of Hitler (and other Nazi books, one of which I recently read and highly recommend: Inside Hitler's Bunker), and September 11th is a day that will go down in the books of Islamofascinazitotalitarianism / history of really violent people groups. I think that fascism, Nazism, and totalitarianism are actually considered to be very different things by historians but I don't really remember why. I think it had to do with the economics of the three or something. In the end, its just that they're from different countries, don't you think?

Anyway, for a really good time check out Der Untergang, or Downfall, which is the movie version of Inside Hitler's Bunker. Its about the last couple weeks of Hitler's existence in his bunker underneath Berlin. Pretty horrific stuff. Rest in peace, Herr Fest!!!

P.S. I know that my NYC style report is overdue. Its just that I have nothing really to say. Nothing inspiring came out of the trip. I liked A.P.C., didn't make it to Canal Street, went into Bergdorf's. Big deal. I am going out again in November so I'll have a second chance at it.
